CHICAGO PHOTOGRAPHER, MAGGIE RIFE PONCE
Hi! I’m Maggie Rife Ponce, a Chicago photographer and overall keeper of the everyday moments that make for a fuller life.
A little background about me: I was first introduced to photography as a teenager in the age of film photography (before it was retro) and darkrooms. I spent countless hours during high school in my basement developing prints in the silver chemical baths, transfixed by the images slowly appearing like magic. I also grew up clipping photos out of issues from National Geographic, drawn to frames with striking compositions and lighting, but even more, to the moments captured especially by Sebastio Salgado and David Alan Harvey.
After studying photo journalism at the University of Missouri, I spent some time focusing on composition and light photography work, before settling down in Chicago, where I live with my husband and son. I now mostly focus my photography on family photos, Chicago portrait photography, and wedding photography, but always with a heart for those same elements that captivated me from the start: composition, light, and moment.
I also have a sister Chicago boudoir photography company—Revealed Studios, where I help empower women through beautiful photography.
When I’m not taking pictures, you can find me in the kitchen cooking, working on a handstand, swooning over nature, reading, playing with my son, or hosting a get together with friends.
Thanks for taking a minute to get to know me and check out my site! As a Chicago photographer with years of experience, I’d love to hear from you and discuss how we can capture your moment.
