On a perfect summer day, I photographed Anna and Scott, long time love birds, at the Nature Walk in Lincoln Park. This engagement session was so much fun, full of laughter, playful teasing, and tender moments.

One of my favorite moments during Laura and Earl’s engagement session at North Ave beach was when Laura burst into a run, chasing the sea gulls into flight. Her enthusiasm made for great photography, if only for the laughter that came after. I can’t wait to see what happens during the wedding! Something tells it’s going to be a great time!
On a perfect sumer evening, I drove down a willow tree lined driveway to meet Laura and Danny for their engagement session. After parking, I grabbed my cameras, then hopped out of my car to take in the property. In one direction, ducks paddled slowly across a pond and in another, chickens pecked away in their coop. I was blown away–Laura and Danny picked out this beautiful, country estate, a place Danny visited with his family growing up. Shortly after I arrived, the two walked out from a nearby barn, “Hi guys! Wow, this place is AMAZING! Great choice.”
The setting was perfect for a laid back couple, who love the outdoors. It even came with a friendly pooch who couldn’t resist popping into a few pictures, making the scene all the more charming.
Laura and Danny were great–comfortable with each other and casual throughout the session. They laughed when the horse on the property sauntered over and nuzzled them up from their blanket and eagerly climbed the fence for a picture against the vivid sunset.
I’m really excited to share this engagement session because it happens to feature a sweet, talented friend and colleague, Jaycie Kurfess, who is one of the favorites Laurie Peacock and I work on shoots for my sister company Revealed Studios. Over the last three years, Jaycie has become a friend and inspiration. I jumped with joy when I found out I would be photographing her wedding.
Her fiance, Bryan is a gentle giant, standing what must be at least a foot about her. The two play and tease like best friends one minute, then share in tender embraces the next. They have great energy and are a joy to be around. I’m so excited for their wedding!
Kate and Pat danced, laughed, and teased their way through their engagement session photos at Millenium Park last week. It was a perfect day, a sunny, cheerful afternoon perfect for a bright yellow dress and a happy couple!
It was at a Starbucks, where Tina first noticed Manny. They were both there, sipping caffeinated drinks, while studying for grad school. Eventually they started chatting. Chatting lead to dating, and dating lead to their upcoming nuptials on June 1st. I can’t wait to share those photos as well! Check back then!
Lindsay and Bob shared laughs over hot chocolate in a cozy little coffee shop during their engagement session. While it was dry and warm inside, the two braved the cold and snowflakes for a few outdoor pictures. I’m glad they did because they looked darling as can be, even as the big, fluffy white flakes left wet droplets on their noses and cheeks.
I loved getting the chance to see them interact together and enjoy the elements, despite being an unpredicted surprise! What great attitudes to have, especially during a year of planning with lists to get through and details to remember. Can’t wait for their wedding this August!
I’m so happy for my friends Kimi and Mike, who were engaged this fall. My husband Anthony and I knew Mike was a special guy when Kimi said early on in their relationship that he was like an angle to her.
They are the sweetest people, with huge hearts and a devotion to their families. Mike is a chef for Rosebud restaurants (boy is he amazing!) and often a Sunday family dinner means 50 people gathered taste testing his latest recipes. Kimi is this amazing force with the best sense of humor making Mike, and anyone else around them crumble in laughter.
Congrats guys! I can’t wait till next October! xoxo
